MOUNT PLEASANT – Mr. Leon R. Simon, 69, died at Aurora Medical Center on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
He was born in Milwaukee on November 11, 1951, the son of the late Leo and June (nee Behrens) Simon. He graduated from William Horlick High School, class of 1970. On October 14, 1978, he married Michelle Kirschling at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church.
Leon retired from FedEx after 25 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing. He was also a member of the Racine Instinctive Bowmen and enjoyed spending his time doing archery. He was a gifted photographer and had a passion for photographing nature. He also enjoyed trips up north, walking his dogs and being in the company of his family.
In addition to his loving wife Michelle, Leon is survived by his children, Timothy Simon, Danielle (Jacob) Curtis and Bobby Simon all of Racine; his grandchildren, Emmett and Kenzie Curtis; his sisters, Connie (Michael) Joblansky of Florida and Sr. Mary Emily of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Denver, CO; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Kirschling, Michael (Gail) Kirschling and Marcia (Michael) Veltas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
