Leonard “Skip” Oswald, 70, passed away in the University of Chicago Hospital on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Skip was born in Racine on September 1, 1942, the son of the late Leonard and Clara (nee: Christhausen) Oswald.
Skip was united in marriage to the former Sharon Laverty, in the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, on July 24, 1965. While living in Racine, he had been employed by the J.I. Case Co.; after moving to Illinois, he was employed by the Bell and Howell Co. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, and fishing. Skip was a huge Green Bay Packer fan. His greatest love was spending time with his family.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Sharon, their daughters, Sue Burnicks, of Mundelein, IL, Debbie (Jeff) Brindley, of Barneveld, WI, and Jennie (Scott) Owens, of Hollandale, WI, 8 grandchildren, Bobby, Jake, Shelby, Kayla, Zoe, Grace, Claire, and Jaimie, brother, Jim (Diane) Oswald, of Racine, and mother-in-law, Eleanor Hoesly. Of Black Earth, WI. His nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive him.
His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, March 11th at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. M.A. Miritz officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service. The family has suggested memorials to the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital
