Miller's FlowersSTURTEVANT – LeRoy S. Bower, 82, passed away at his residence, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016.
He was born in Yorkville on December 15, 1933, the son of Frank and Agnes (nee: Neu) Bower. He served 2 years with the U.S. Army. On April 7, 1956, he married Arleen Barrows. She preceded him in death on April 7, 1990.
LeRoy worked at American Motors/Chrysler for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He was co-owner of Tom and Lee’s Hiawatha Ballroom which will be celebrating 50 years of ownership next month. Fun followed LeRoy everywhere. He was the bass player for the Bower Boys Polka Band for over 15 years. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, vacationing at their home in St. Germain, snowmobiling, hunting, golfing, making his homemade sausage and collecting the many famous, funny hats that he will be remembered by.
LeRoy is survived by his loving partner and companion, Maria Lembach of Sturtevant; his daughters and son, Teresa Dillard of Sturtevant, Tammy Graceffa of Union Grove and Tim (Annette) Bower of Mosinee; his grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Rena, Kayla, Angela, Joey, Isaac and Amanda; his great grandchildren, Adeline and J.J.; his sister and brothers, Caroline Seeger of Racine, Herbert (Lydia) Bower of Sayner, WI and Tom (Pearl) Bower of Sturtevant; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and patrons of the Hiawatha over the years. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, George Dillard and nine brothers and sisters.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, September 3, 2016 for a visitation and time to meet with his family from 10 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A service celebrating and honoring his life will follow at 1:00 p.m. A procession to West Lawn Memorial Park will follow the service at the funeral home.
A heartfelt thank you to Hospice Alliance; especially Angelica and Jo; as well his dear Maria and her sister Gloria for the dedicated and loving care he received while he was sick. The entire Bower family is grateful.
