Miller's FlowersLisa K. Burks, 67, passed peacefully June 6th after multiple courageous health battles. Lisa was born in Racine on July 1, 1955, the daughter of the late Robert and Katherine (nee: Holt) Martinson.
As a child when asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” her answer, “A mommy!” and her children would definitely agree; she was the best mother one could ever ask for. They were her life and love. In addition to her children, Lisa had many passions. She was a sun worshipper who loved a frozen pina colada and a good sweet treat. Lisa took great pride in both her beautiful home and perfectly groomed yard.
Just shy of her 68th birthday, she was taken from this Earth too soon. We celebrate an incredible woman, dedicated mother, business woman, and forever guiding light. May she always live on in our hearts and stories!
Surviving Lisa are her daughter, Stephanie Burks, and Stephanie’s fiancée, Erica Bunnell, of Chicago; four sisters, Lynne Martinson, of Ft. Myers FL, Jenifer (Patrick) Loew, of Lake Geneva, Michelle (Mark) Drezdzon, of Ft. Myers, FL, and Kristine Lynn, of Knoxville, TN; nieces and nephews, Eric, Katherine, Paul, Brandon, Josh, Melissa, David, and Michael; and her beloved fur babies Darcy, Wellington Buttons, and Chunk. In addition to her parents, Lisa was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Rogers.

Lisa was, and still is my dearest friend. Loyal to a fault, always willing to be there, always willing to give of herself. She was an intelligent, beautiful woman who’s faith in Jesus Christ was as solid as stone. We had many spiritual conversations and as I write this she is telling Jesus about all the people she loved and cared for because that’s the way she was. Always putting others first. Stay strong Stephanie, look to the heavens and know your beautiful mom is watching out for you and the rest of us, just the way she always did. Friends forever Lisa, see you soon…..

The short time I worked pt fir Lisa and she shared her office space with me told me so much about her. Even when her health was beginning to decline she was a fireball and always ALWAYS had that giant bright smile. Just a beautiful brilliant vivacious woman. May the Lord hold her close.
