
Mrs. Madeline (Mattie) Jean McGee- James, 55 went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. She was born in Waukegan, IL on January 1, 1953 to the late Edward & Betty (nee: Morris) Williams, but had lived in Racine for most of her life. On March 16, 1990, Madeline was united in holy matrimony to Dennis James. Madeline was a faithful member of Gregg’s Chapel C.M.E. Church where she served on the Stewardess Board. She was employed by The Check Cashing Place for 23 years and Wheaton Franciscan Health Care for 11 years before her health failed. Fondest memories of Madeline will be cherished by her children, Tina McGee of Tupelo, MS and Coeneka (Eric) Ball of Racine, stepchildren, Dennis (Renee) James of Racine and Michael (Amanda) James of Fond Du Lac, grandchildren, Sharday Moss, Antonio Moss, Denekque Ivy, and Majestic Ball, Elexia Mack, Xavier James, Xandria James, Imauni James all of Racine, Domonic James and Alivia James of Fond Du Lac; great grandchildren, Damarion Patterson, Jordan Talley, and Antonio Moss Jr. all of Racine; two brothers, Edward (Judy) Williams Jr. and John Wesley Williams of Zion, IL; three sisters, Betty Jean Moore of Waukegan, IL, Patricia Handy of Gurnee IL, Juanita Massie of Waukegan, IL, and Emma Ricks of Massachusetts; brother-in law, Roosevelt (Lettie) James of Chicago, IL; sister-in-laws, Mary (Clint) Starks of Chicago, IL; Cecilia James of Racine; special friends, Betty Clark and Kathy Washington both of Racine; special nieces, Robin Wynn of Kenosha and Lynette Johnson of Chicago, IL; special aunt-in-law, Margaret Hunter of Racine; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family. Madeline was proceeded in death by her husband, Dennis James; son, Archie McGee Jr.; grandson, DayShawn Hopson; mother, Betty Moore; father, Edward Williams Sr.; two sisters, Dorothy Moten and Ida Mae Brown; mother-in-law, Mattie James; four brother-in-laws, James Moore, Frank James, Jessie James, Willie James; two sister-in-laws, Annette Williams and Mattie Bowen. Homegoing services for Madeline (Mattie) Jean McGee-James will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May23, 2008 in the Gregg Chapel C.M.E. Church, 2237 Howe Street, officiated by Rev. David Green. Burial at Graceland Cemetery will follow. Family and friends are invited to the visitation and viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the church. The family of Madeline would like to express their gratitude to the Wheaton Franciscan Home Health Care and Hospice staff members, Ms. Sarah, Ms. Pat, and Mr. Bill; the entire staff at Community Care; and all of the nurses and CNA’s on 2-D East, especially Nicole P and Ruth who cared for her and showed their kindness and professionalism during her stay at Wheaton Franciscan Health Care.
