
Kenosha- Marguerite Ann Massie (nee: Gavin), 81, of Pleasant Prairie, died Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. Marguerite was born in Wexford, Iowa on December 9, 1925 to Michael and Elizabeth Gavin. She moved to Racine in 1942, working as a comptometrist at Young Radiator until her marriage at St. Mary’s Church on July 23, 1949 to Grover Massie, who was the love of her life. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she had been a member of the Altar Society. She also was a member of the Pleasant Prairie Fire Department Auxiliary. Marguerite is survived by her loving husband, Grover. She was a cherished mom to her three children: Linda (David) Holzinger, Daniel (Sandra) Massie, and Debra (the late Wally Rosentreter). She was the best grandma in the world to James (Gina) Bauer, Mary Beth Holzinger, and Ashley Bauer, and her great-granddaughter, Ashlynne Bauer. She will be missed by her dear sister Alice (the late Burton) Feuerhelm, by 17 nieces and 20 nephews, and by three sisters-in-law: Alyce, Luann, and Georgianna Gavin. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren: Lisa Derr, Scott Schwefel, and Maria Johnson, and by 8 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Elizabeth Gavin; sisters: Elizabeth Gavin, Regina (Cloy) Folsom, Sister M. Sheila Gavin FSPA, Leona (Albert) Ferko; brothers: Joseph, Clarence (Zita), Clair, Daniel, and Paul Gavin; one niece, Janice Folsom; and by two nephews, Ron Feuerhelm and Jack Folsom. Relatives and friends are invited to meet for the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 7300 – 39th Ave., with Rev. Michael T. Newman and Rev. Jerome M. Hudziak officiating. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation of blood or platelets to the Bloodcenter of Wisconsin. Memorials to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Joseph High School, or the Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue Department would be appreciated. Marguerite and her family wish to thank the many blood donors who gave of their platelets and blood. Your generosity made a difference in Marguerite’s quality of life during the past few months.
