Racine – Marlene Ann (nee: DeGarmo) Hintz, age 68, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on Monday, May 12, 2014.
Marlene was born in Portage, Wisconsin on April 5, 1946 to the late Kenneth J. and Margaret M. (nee: Gaffney) DeGarmo. She attended William Horlick High School. On January 21, 1966 she was united in marriage with Donald “B.J.” Hintz, who preceded her in death on February 18, 2013.
Marlene was a faithful employee of K-Mart for nearly 30 years – retiring only when her health began to decline. Marlene enjoyed reading, cooking and (with a strong faith in God) had quite a collection of angels. Above all, in the past several years, nothing gave Marlene more joy than spending time with her adored grandson, Truman. Marlene will be remembered for her unconditional love and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her son, Michael Hintz; daughter, Tracy Hintz; grandson, Truman Hintz; sister, Colleen (Al) LaFave; brothers, John (Mina) DeGarmo, Gary DeGarmo and William DeGarmo; brother-in-law, Daniel (Barb) Hintz; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marlene was preceded in death by her brother, Tim DeGarmo; sister-in-law, Shirley (Les) O’Haver; and by Donald’s parents, Elmer and Laura (nee: Maynard) Hintz.
A Memorial Service celebrating Marlene’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Roger Black officiating. A reception will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 11 am – 1 pm. Private interment will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
