
Racine – Martha A. Gomez, 70, passed away at WFH-All Saints on Sunday, May 2, 2010. She was born in Laredo, Texas on February 22, 1940, daughter of the late Jesus and Margarita (nee: Castillo) Valdez. Martha had been a Racine resident for many years, and worked as a counselor at the Taylor Home. She found joy in her family, flowers, and her garden. She was a member of Cristo Rey Parish. She is survived by her former husband, Ramiro Gomez, Sr.; their children, Ricardo (Lisa) Sanchez, Jr., Rodolfo Gomez, Sr., Rolando (Norma) Gomez, Sr., Roberto (Juanita) Gomez, Naomi (Frank) Sanchez, and Ramiro Gomez, Jr.; 14 grandchildren, Ricardo, Jesse, Daniel, Lindsay, James, Rodolfo, Jr., Misty, Rolando, Jr., Leonardo, Christy, Rodolfo, Anita, Freddy, and Armandina; many great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Juanita (James Tehan) Valdez, Lola Koski, Josie (Gerald) Currier, Norma Valdez, and Rosa Valdez; 4 brothers, Jesse (Diane) Florencio Valdez, Raul (Shelly) Valdez, and Fernando (Gloria) Valdez; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Cristo Rey Parish, 800 College Avenue. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitations will be in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7pm, with a rosary prayer service at 7pm, and in the church on Friday beginning at 10a.m. Memorials to Cristo Rey Parish have been suggested. Our family would like to thank everyone who cared so much for Martha, including Russ, Sue, Brandon, and the staff at All Saints ICU, especially Patricia, R.N.
