Brown Deer, WI – Mary Jane (nee: Thompson) Jackson, departed this world peacefully on December 30, 2019, in the presence of her loving daughter Tanya. She was born in Fayetteville, West Virginia, on December 15, 1949, daughter of Andrew and Lucy (nee: Burton) Thompson. The family moved to Charleston, West Virginia where Mary attended school and graduated from the Job Corps. Mary moved to and had lived in Wisconsin since the early 1970s.
Known as Aunt Mary, Ms. Mary, and Mary Riser, Mary Jane is fondly remembered for her sweet disposition and kind manners. She had a great sense of humor and was easy to love. Mary Jane was very creative and enjoyed drawing, painting, writing poetry, and creating new games. When she wanted her children to learn the Lord’s Prayer, she created a full pictorial book with beautiful illustrations. Above all Mary loved her family and friends, especially kids, and was generous with her time and possessions – she would give away her last!
Mary left to cherish her memories a loving daughter and son, Tanya (Perry Henry) Choice of Milwaukee, WI and Donald Jackson, Jr. of Racine, WI; adoring grandchildren, Tennisha Choice, Donovan Jackson, and Dorianna Jackson; amazing great grandchildren, Julian, Janae, Za’meria, Za’miyah, and Za’mina; devoted siblings, a brother, Roy (Barbara) Thompson of Racine, WI, and sisters, Ethel (Francis) Monroe of Decatur, GA, Muriel (Willie) Washington of Newark, NJ, Carol Mosely, of Racine, WI, and Janet Rice of Charleston, WV; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, William Thompson and Andrew Thompson; and, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Mary Jane’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020, 11:00 am, in the Chapel of Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Pastor Dorothy Kidwell officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested live plants or seeds for a memorial garden or memorials to your favorite charity in honor of Mary’s Life.
