Mrs. Mary “Jocelyn” Bayer, 77, passed away at WFH- All Saints on Friday, December 26, 2008. She was born in Hartford, WI on June 27, 1931 to the late Sam and Dorothy (nee: Schmidt) Parent. On June 15, 1963, she married her loving husband, Clarence O. Bayer, at St. Killian’s Church in Hartford. They moved to Racine shortly afterward. Mrs. Bayer graduated from Mount Mary College with degrees in early education and music. Her love of teaching was her passion until her children were born. After raising her family she worked at the Children’s Corner for many years. She also volunteered many hours for the auxiliary at St. Mary’s Hospital. Mrs. Bayer was a longtime member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, working crosswords and puzzles. However, she was happiest during the times spent with her family and friends. In addition to her husband, Clarence, her survivors include her daughters, Colleen Ralph and Lynn Bayer; granddaughter, Katie Ralph; son-in-law, Greg Ralph all of Racine; sister, Yvonne McCollow of Mequon; sisters-in-law, Elaine (William) Hubert of Milwaukee, Connie (El) Collins of Apple Valley, MN., Mary Anne (L.D.) Curran of Dousman, WI; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Thomas McCollow, Raymond and Virginia Bayer and Catherine Bayer. The celebration of her life and funeral mass will be held at St. Lucy Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. There will be a visitation in the church on Tuesday from 10:30 -11:30 a.m. A private entombment service will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum. Per Mrs. Bayer’s wishes, in lieu of flowers memorials have been suggested to St. Lucy Catholic Church, the American Lung Association or to one’s favorite charity.

Just read about dear Jocelyn, and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to you all. She was a lovely lady who lived her faith daily by all the many kindnesses she extended to others. There’s another star glimmering in the heavens! God bless you all.

I was so sorry to hear about Jocelyn’s passing. She was such a nice lady and such a fixture at Park Place condos that I can’t imagine the neighborhood without her. She was also such a big help to PPII while serving on the board. It was always appreciated by me and the other members. She will surely be missed. My deepest condolences to your entire family – you are all in my prayers at this difficult time.
