Delavan (formerly of Racine) – Michael “Mike” Webster, 65, passed away peacefully at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital on Friday, April 15, 2011.
Mike was born in Racine on March 1, 1946 to the late William and Rose (nee: Andersen) Webster. A graduate of William Horlick High School, he went on to faithfully serve our country with the United States Army in Vietnam as a Communications Specialist. Mike was employed as a cable repair technician at AT&T for over 35 years, retiring in 2005. During his career, he was an outspoken advocate for justice and workers’ rights. Mike served as President of Communication Workers of America Local 4611 for over 12 years; he also served as President of the Racine Labor Paper and the Racine Labor Center. Mike was awarded “Labor Person of the Year” in 1987; and Mike & MaryBeth where named “Mr. and Mrs. Solidarity” in 1996. Outside of work, Mike enjoyed camping, fishing and golfing – accomplishing a hole-in-one at Lake Lawn Lodge. Above all, Mike's favorite times were when he was surrounded by family.
