~~Racine – Ola Mae (nee: Bozeman) Johnson, age 82, earned her Heavenly Wings on Wednesday, January 6, 2016. She was born to the late John and Laura (nee: Brown) Bozeman on August 16, 1933 in Meridian, MS. Since 1952, she has lived in Racine and Kenosha.
Ola was employed at Southern Colony, Carthage College and finally Webster Electric until she became disabled. Her true passion and commitment in life was to God and her family. She was a lifelong active and devoted member of Midtown Church of Christ and enjoyed traveling to lectureships and gospel meetings. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Ola faithfully displayed her love and care, through cooking and serving meals to many church members, pastors, friends and family. She took pride and was willing to make every sacrifice to raise not only her children, but also some of her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved having family over to play cards, and enjoyed working in her yard, listening to gospel music, watching game shows, and doing word search puzzles.
She leaves to cherish her memories her three children, Beverly Kern of Racine, Sharon (LeRoy) Visor of Sun Lakes, AZ and Darryl Johnson of St. Paul, MN; her three granddaughters whom she raised as her own, Catherine (Jimmy) Rutherford, April (Keith) Martin and Julia Johnson all of Racine; eleven additional grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and twenty-two great-great-grandchildren and a host of great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Ola was preceded in death by her parents; three children, Phyllis, Ralph and Michael Johnson; her granddaughter, Katrina Powell; her only sibling, Louise (Ernest) McClain and all of her sister’s children, whom she loved as siblings, Harold Ward, Vera (David) Miller, Willie Mae (Sonny) Moore and Claudia Mae Jackson
Family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of Ola’s life on Friday, January 15th, 11:00 am, at Midtown Church of Christ, 1705 13th Street, Racine, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery.
