Racine – Patricia M. Tomes, 78, passed away at the Becker-Shoop Center on Thursday, April 15, 2010. She was born in Milwaukee on July 27, 1931, daughter of the late Frank and Hedwig (nee: Perszyk) Wieczorek. On July 5, 1952 she was united in holy matrimony to John Tomes. She and John settled in So. Milwaukee to raise their family, and then moved to Racine in 1972 as owners of the White Hen Pantry. She was a member of St.Lucy’s Catholic Church. Throughout her life Pat worked hard and enjoyed a variety of interests including gardening, music and sewing handicrafts. She was proud of her volunteer work with The American Red Cross. Her greatest satisfaction came from the time spent helping and enjoying her family. She is survived by her children, Jim Tomes, Sr. of Racine, Linda (Dave) Tomes-Thorn of Lakewood, Colo., Jean Tomes (Chris Coy) of Denver, Colo., Hedy (Dan) Pflugrad of Racine and son-in-law, Mike Sullivan of Racine; Grandchildren, Jim Tomes, Jr., Robert (Erin) Tomes, Stephanie Tomes, Evan Thorn, Brian Tomes, Chris (Teresa Coutts) Tomes, Eric (Shannon) Sullivan, Tim Pflugrad, Tom Pflugrad and Erin Pflugrad; Great-Grandchildren, Kyla Sullivan, Ella Tomes, Chris Tomes, Jr., Colton Tomes; Former daughter-in-law, Mary Tomes, Cousin, Harry Glowacki and Godchildren, Sharon Pinkalla and Jacqueline Vargas. She was preceded by her husband, John Tomes; daughter, Judy Sullivan; Sister-in-law, Mary Stoloski; godson, Tim Floyd; and special friend, Nancy Glowacki. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church on Friday, April, 23, 2010 with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitation will begin in the church at 9:30 a.m.
