Patrick A. Scaife was born in Racine WI on November 27, 1971 to Pastor A. W. Scaife and Evangelist R. J. Scaife. Patrick graduated from Horlick High School in 1989, and attended the University of Wisconsin Parkside.
Patrick grew up attending Sunday School and Morning Worship Service. Patrick loved attending church regularly until about the age of 13 years old. After that, more than a few times on Sunday mornings his dad would have to raise his voice in a stronger manner, and say to him. “Get ready for church boy, and I mean now.” Patrick was often told by his dad, how much he looked like is eldest brother James, who died when Patrick was only 2 years old.
Patrick was loved by his mother and very special to her, because he was her baby. When Patrick was a small child, she referred to him as her “angel in disguise.” Both parents instilled in Patrick the importance of a strong work ethics. It was his mother who was his spiritual mentor and closest friend.
Patrick loved his two eldest sisters Shronda and Piper enormously. His sister Shronda nurtured him from the time he was born until the day he died, and referred to him as “my baby, and little brother.” When Patrick’s health began to weaken Shronda immediately took time off from work to go care for him.”
Patrick loved his sister Piper, growing up he referred to her as “fun.” Piper did not worry about rules, and regulations and often would break curfew. Patrick admired this because this was something he hoped to do. Both Piper and Patrick would get angry at Shronda for telling on them, to their parents.
Patrick also loved his big brother Alexander. Patrick left home at age 19 ½ years old to move to Las Vegas and live with his brother.
When Patrick was a child he would rush to complete his household chores so he could go over to his Aunt Dora’s and Uncle Hoas’s house to hang out with his cousin Michael. A few days before Patrick died he said he would like to see Michael. As Michael and his sister Karen were flying into Atlanta to see Patrick, Patrick took his final breaths and passed away.
Patrick loved all his family but had a special bond with his Nephew MJ who lived in Atlanta with him and was like a son to him.
Patrick’s closets childhood and lifetime friends were his cousin Michael Simpson, Kelly Robinson –Faultersack, friends Adonous Fitzpatrick, Justine Oliver and Charmaine Taylor. Patrick was blessed in his adult life to make close friendships with Corey and India Christian, and their four daughters Naturice, Nasya and become god-father to their daughters Ciera and Jordyn. Patrick also became close friends with Shawn Benn Sr, Mario Stephens, and Jonathan Scott.
The most joyful news Patrick shared with his parents was in April 2017. Patrick called home and told his parents that he accepted the Lord Jesus as his savior and into his life. The next month, May 2017, Patrick went to his annual checkup. After examination the doctor told Patrick he suspected he had cancer, but needed to run more tests. Ten days later Patrick was diagnosed with cancer. He immediately informed his parents and asked that they pray God would heal him. Both parents prayed for God to heal Patrick or for God to take them instead of Patrick.
Patrick trusted God. He walked with God and fought cancer courageously. He lived life to the fullest, and would often tell his mother not to cry and telling his sisters not to worry. The doctor told Patrick he would not live past by August 2018. Patrick lived two more years, dying Saturday October 3, 2020, at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice House, in Austell Georgia.
Patrick regularly attended, Sunday school, morning worship service, and bible study. He was a member of Shaw Temple AME church in Smyrna, Georgia. He was also a member of the male chorus.
Some of Patrick’s biggest joy was being a Billing Analyst Supervisor for the King and Spalding Law firm in Atlanta Georgia. He would often express the love for his job and co-workers. The last day Patrick worked was September 25, 2020. Patrick enjoyed his new home he had built, and moved into May of 2020.
Patrick was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Angeles Simpson, his paternal grandparents, James and Anna Scaife, his great niece Tranasia Bridges, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Patrick leaves to cherish his memories, his parents, Pastor A.W. Scaife and Evangelist R.J. Scaife, his two sisters, Shronda Green (MT Pleasant, WI), Piper Bridges (Racine, WI), one brother Alexander (Tonya) Pasco-Scaife, (Las Vegas, Nevada). Six nieces, Whitney Green (Racine, WI) and Denay, Delana, Alexis, Alize, and Laila Pasco-Scaife of Las Vegas Nevada. Four nephews, Tranell Bridges, (Peoria, Az), MJ Brides (Atlanta, GA), Issiah Bridges (Racine, WI) and Allen Pasco- Scaife (Las Vegas, NV). Three Aunts Dora Simpson (Racine, WI), Charlene McLaurie (Memphis, TN) and Esterlene Jonson (Chicago, Ill), one uncle Cleveland Scaife (Racine, WI), and a host of cousins and good friends.
Family and friends are all invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral on Thursday evening for visitation and viewing from 5-7 p.m. Patrick’s Homegoing will be held for his family on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Due to Covid, the family would appreciate everyone’s understanding in keeping the attendance to the family only on Friday.
