
Racine – Paul H. Hartman, 80, died on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at Kindred Hospital in Greenfield. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 22, 1926, son of the late Sebastian and Margaret (nee: Deitche) Hartman. After graduating from Bloomer high school he enlisted in US Army, and served two years with the 42nd Division in the European Theater. On May 22, 1948 he was married to Elsie A. Taylor in St Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer. Paul retired from SC Johnson in 1982, where he worked as a heating and air-conditioning specialist for 32 years. He belonged to the 30-year club and served on the Retiree Advisory Committee as chairperson, and the Fishing Club. While a member of Holy Name Catholic Church he served as chairman of the parish council, vice-chairman of the Holy Name Society. Paul was a current member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, where he enjoyed volunteering at the church festival and fish fries. He was also a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Deutcher Maenner Verien, and VFW Post 10301. He is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Elsie; their children, Carol (Ron) Hoegsted of Sturtevant, and James (Cathy) Hartman of Fox Point; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bernard (Elaine) Hartman of Racine, Jerome Hartman (and friend Bert) of Chippewa Falls; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald (Inez) Taylor and Loretta (Elmer) Erickson, and Patricia Hartman, all of Bloomer, Elsie Clausen of Racine; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis Hartman, Marie (Archie) Turner, Robert Taylor, David Taylor, and Ernest Taylor. The funeral mass for Mr. Hartman will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 29, 2007 at St. Lucy Catholic Church (3101 Drexel Avenue) with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia with Military Honors. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, January 28th from 4-7 p.m., and in the church Monday from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association, or St. Lucy’s Church have been suggested.
