
Racine- Phyllis Ann (nee: Pottinger) Cark, age 67, passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha on Monday, March 25, 2013.
A lifetime resident, Phyllis was born in Racine on August 26, 1945. On May 11, 1996 in Las Vegas, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Arthur Lee Cark. Phyllis enjoyed being the dental office manager for Dr. Richard J. Kemper for over 20 years, retiring in 2011 due to her failing health.
With a profound Christian faith, Phyllis was a proud member of True Life Ministries. Earlier in life, Phyllis served her Lord with the Salvation Army. Shopping, shooting league pool with Arthur, and crafts – especially her homemade Christmas stockings – were some of her favorite pastimes. Above all, Phyllis always placed the needs of others, especially her family, before her own.
Surviving are her devoted and loving husband, Arthur; daughters, Cindy Nelson, Julie and Patricia Pottinger, Jackie (Coco Tahan) Pottinger and Gandee Dumas; son-in-law, Ronnel Nelson Sr.; step-son, Sergio (Sarah) Ratliff; grandchildren, Synell, Alexis, Ronnel Nelson, Jr. and Justyce Nelson, Jason (Ashley) Pottinger; Frances, LaToya, Michael Jr. and Veronica Jones; Michael and A.J. Pottinger; Muhumad Rizek; Crystal and Ceecee Peak; Trevian (Christina Garcia) Dumas and Ariana Dumas; step-grandchildren, Syanna Bialek; Sergio, Serrayia, Saveon, Savaya and Samyia Ratliff; Sydia Koker; great-grandchildren, Damarion Nelson-Deleon, Amilleon West, Justin Winston, Ariel Jones-Davis, Taqiyah Shaqur-Luqman; Casey Jones Jr. and Jazlene Jones; K’Zyiah and Nevaeh Dumas; and Ava Pottinger, sister; Gail (Manuel) Guajardo; mother-in-law; Florine Cark, father-in-law; Tommy L. Dozier Sr., brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Robert Wellington, Flora (Willie) Atterberry, Larry (Wendie Vogelman) Cark and Annette (Glenn) Thomas, Rita Cark, Gwenda Mosley, Annette (Rayfield) Cameron, Tommy Dozier Jr., Margaret (Bobby) Baker. Nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Virginia (nee: Smith) Draves, grandson; Casey Jones, Sr. and sisters; Sue Wellington and Katherine Draves.
Funeral services will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 11:00 am with Rev. Terry L. Howell and Rev. Donavan Blair officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 9-11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family have been suggested.
