
MOUNT PLEASANT – Dick Pinnow, 66, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 14, 2014.
He was born in Monroe, WI on August 13, 1947, the son of the late Leslie and Mary Pinnow. He grew up with his three brothers and a sister on a dairy farm outside of Brodhead, WI. Dick earned a bachelor’s in education degree at UW –Whitewater and a Master’s degree from UW- Milwaukee.
He began a 41 year teaching career at Starbuck Middle School in 1969, where he met his wife, Jane. They were united in marriage on April 10, 1971, and had two children, daughter Amy and son Chris. Dick transferred to Park High School in 1988. He retired from Racine Unified in 2003. He then taught mathematics through the Learning Assistance Department at UW Parkside, retiring in 2010.
Dick will be remembered for his sense of humor, calm demeanor, woodworking talent and his ability to fix about anything around the house with enough trips to Menards.
Dick is survived by his wife, Jane; daughter, Amy (Michael Wilson) of Raleigh, NC; son, Christopher (Corrine Krause) of Racine; his six grandchildren, Tyler, Brayden, Cade and Ava Pinnow and Austin and Blake Wilson; his brothers, Mark (Karen) Pinnow of Janesville, Lane (LaVon) Pinnow of Cascade, CO, Jerry Pinnow of Melbourne, Australia; his sister, Katherine Pinnow of Monroe; brother-in-law, Jim (Patricia) Kasparek of Grand Island, NE; as well as many dear, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to meet at Christ Church United Methodist (5109 Washington Ave.) on Saturday, May 17, 2014 for a visitation from 10 a.m. until 12:00 noon. A service celebrating Dick’s life will follow at noon with Pastor George J. Kafer officiating. A private interment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Christ Church United Methodist and Hospice Alliance.

Mr. Pinnow was my 7th grade math teacher, I remember his teaching and really enjoyed having him as my teacher. Later at Parkside I had his wife for an instructor and liked her class as well. Prayers to his family.
