
Racine – Robert Lee “Bob” Philopulous; age 70; passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family and friends, on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 following a one-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Bob was born and raised in Bay City, Michigan on October 12, 1945 to Arthur and Priscilla (nee: Waite) Philopulous.
The step-son of an active duty Navy Master Chief Petty Officer, he graduated from Yokohama High School in Japan in 1965. Following, Bob went on to serve our Country with the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. When returned from two tours of duty, he enrolled in college pursing with an associate’s degree in Lithography.
During his career, Bob was employed as a pressman for Western Publishing and Tetra Pak. He also worked for JI Case, Schneider Trucking and Jung Trucking. Bob and his son Mike, owned and operated Domain Host International, a computer hosting and domain name registration company, in Chicago and Racine.
Among his interests, Bob enjoyed bowling, golfing, ping-pong, roller skating, boating, restoring Corvettes, watching and attending NASCAR, going to the movies, having coffee at Annetta’s Cafe. During his lifetime, he traveled to Mexico, Australia, Russia, Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines, Bob often visited Florida and Michigan to vacation with loved ones. Above all, Bob loved and cherished spending time with his family and friends, just enjoying a fish fry, talking about a great deal to purchase or sell, or watching his grandson play baseball. He will be remembered for his deep, booming voice and kindness shown to many, because he always helped those down on their luck.
Surviving are his daughter, Leslie (Peter) Jensen; son, Robert C. Philopulous; father, Arthur Philopulous; grandchildren, Kirsten (Jesse) Eaton and Jakob Jensen; brothers, Larry Philopulous, Dennis (Marie) Philopulous, Diane Hartley, Jim Deavers and Ron (Julie) Deavers; former step-daughters, Anya and Masha; special friends, Al and Linda Bull, and John Olle; feline friend, Stinker; nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his mom, Priscilla Deavers; son, Michael A. Philopulous; step-dad, Jim Deavers; and step-mom, Betty Philopulous.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 6:30 pm in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home. Military honors will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:30 – 6:30 pm.
