Robert Gomez passed away at the age of 49, at Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin on December 7, 2018. Robert was born in Racine, WI., on July 14, 1969. He graduated from Washington Park High School in the class of 1987.
Robert loved to have fun. He loved to travel and seek out new places to visit. Whether he was going to The State Fair, to eat a footlong hotdog or on a road trip to see Holy Hill. He had an adventurous spirit and a generous nature. Robert was a loving and caring husband, brother and uncle he always knew how to make you laugh. Even though Robert was battling his own health issues, he would often sympathize with the troubles of others.
Robert’s most prized possessions and his biggest passion was his love for comic books and collectables and was the owner of B.C. Comics at one time. He also worked at PharMor, Farm & Fleet, Walgreens and most recently The Racine Correctional Institution until his medical retirement.
Robert always had a quick wit and sly smile, he loved to see if you caught his naughty comments. Whether you family or friend it did not matter, you were fair game. Robert loved animals and believed in spirit guides in the after-life. He believed his beloved dog “Peppy” and his beloved cats “Smokey” and “Monkey” will greet him in Heaven.
Robert was united in marriage to Elizabeth (nee: Ramirez) Gomez. Robert and Liz were married for nine years and he spoke highly of her to anyone who would listen. He could often be found telling stories of their meeting at Gateway Technical College, and how he met his soul mate. Liz remained by his side through his most difficult times and she was his biggest advocate. No matter how overwhelming his situation she was there for him.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Herminia “Minnie” (nee: Toscano) Gomez. He leaves behind his siblings, Elaine (Alex) Thiel, Virginia (Antonio) Guzman, Sylvia Gomez, Richard (Jane Wilson) Gomez, Carol Gomez.
Uncle to Antonio (fiancé Roman Mora) Guzman, Justin Thiel, Lucinda (John) Wysocki, Rose Angel Ramirez, Faith Ornelas; great uncle to John and Evelyn Wysocki. He is further missed by many cousins, other relatives and friends.
Robert and his family would very much like to thank Dr. Malik and his staff, especially Mel at DaVita in Oak Creek and the hyperbaric wound care staff at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI., also a heartfelt thank you to Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie.
If you were familiar with Robert or even a few of his words or phrases could trigger a memory or a smile. Think of him often as we move forward from this difficult time.
The Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, 6:00pm in the Chapel of Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Rd., Racine, WI. Visitation will be in the chapel from 4:00_6:00pm.
