Racine – Robert Nelson Holzer, 66, a loving and devoted husband – who truly died of a broken-heart, passed away unexpectedly in the ICU of Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Monday, April 19, 2010 just 15 days after his beloved wife, Gay Ann Holzer, died suddenly on Easter Sunday 2010. Bob was born in Milwaukee on February 22, 1944 to the late Nelson and Marie (nee: Fischer) Holzer. He graduated from E. Division – Riverside High School in 1962 and went to earn his degree from UW-Whitewater. Bob faithfully served our Country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. On December 16, 1967 in Peace Church of Bensenville, IL he was united in marriage with the love of his life and best friend, Gay Ann (nee: Landmeier). During his career as an extremely knowledgeable information technologist, Bob was employed by Modine Mfg., Racine Unified Schools, Gateway Technical College, Goodwill Industries, Waukesha Electrical and Manpower. With a profound Christian faith, he was an active member at Christ Church – United Methodist. Bob was also a member of Kiwanis –West Racine, Data Processing Managers Assn., and the Racine Realtors. Although he enjoyed woodworking, travelling with his wife, wintering in Arizona, and spending time at his home in Northern Wisconsin, Bob’s world revolved around his family…..always! Surviving are his sons, Scott (Christine Velez) Holzer of Denver, CO and Timothy (Tammy Winkelman) Holzer of Greenfield; his treasured grandson, Maxwell; sister, Barbara (Jerry) Yuds; brother-in-law, Wayne (Cathy) Landmeier; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and devoted friends too numerous to mention all by name. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by Gay’s parents, Leonard and Elsa (nee: Eickelmann) Landmeier. Funeral services will be held at Christ Church – United Methodist, 5109 Washington Ave., on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 11:00 am with Rev. Mark Swanson officiating. A reception will follow. Entombment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 pm and in the church on Friday from 10-11 am. Words could not express our sincere gratitude to our family members and friends for the love and support that has been expressed during the past few weeks. Our Mom and Dad loved all of you very much! Please keep us in your prayers.

I was saddened to read of Bob’s death. I remember him, from when I worked at Gateway Technical College, as a man who always had a smile and a friendly word. Please accept my condolences.
