Robert R. Birdsall, 59, passed away unexpectedly while traveling for work in Walworth County on Thursday, July 21, 2011.
A lifelong resident of Racine, Bob was born on December 12, 1951 to Richard and Bernice (nee: Yurkievich) Birdsall. He graduated from Washington Park High School in 1969 and attended UW Platteville. He returned to Racine to help run R.R. Birdsall & Sons (a 4th generation family construction company.)
Upon the family’s company closing in 1996, Bob moved to Asphalt Contractors to work as an estimator and coordinator.
Bob was a great son, brother, uncle, godfather and friend. He was a man who enjoyed life; whether as an Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster or as reigning state champ with his beloved trivia team. He will be greatly missed.
His survivors include his dear mother, Bernice Birdsall of Racine; his brothers, Brad Birdsall of Paradise, MT and Rick Birdsall of Racine; his nephews and niece, Robert, Ashleigh, Connor and Ryan; his beloved aunt, Stel Wolk of Racine; his godchildren, Mary Kelly Birdsall, Arron Jo Marquardt, Sherry York and Kevin Thomas; his Team Trivia teammates, Steve, Doug, Jim, Charlie and Ryan; his longtime college friends, Zip and Dukk; as well as many other relatives, business associates and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Richard Birdsall and his godson, Robert Walters.
Family and friends are invited to meet at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. for the celebration of Bob’s life and memorial service with Rev. Ronald Gramza officiating. There will be a visitation to meet with family from 4-6 p.m. Memorials have been suggested to the Boy Scouts of America or the American Heart Association.

My heart goes out to Rick and Ryan and all of Bob’s family. I cannot put into words how much I will miss him. His easygoing demeanor and good natured, but sometimes wry sense of humor made him easy to get along with from the first time I met him and he became a true friend over the years.
We shared a love of information — both useful and seemingly useless — call it trivia or even minutia. I’m sure he’s somewhere now where he’s got all the answers.
Robert (Zip) Zanon says
Bunny, Rick, and Brad, My sincere sorrow for your loss. I know Robert (Beebs I called him) would ease your pain if he could. He was always thinking of and helping others, including Dukk and myself. Bunny you raised a great son. He was the finest man I have known.
I love you Beebs, Zip
