Racine, WI – Ronnel Jay Nelson, age 47, was born on February 28, 1973 to the union of Jimmie Lee Nelson Sr. and Zodie Mae Nelson in Racine, WI. Ronnel received his formal education throughout Racine Unified School District. Although, he didn’t have an affection for academics in the sense of books he was a phenomenal student of working with his hands and his best teacher was his father; something he passed on to his son.
To know Ronnel is to know that nothing about him is traditional and him accepting Jesus as his personal savior was no different! What matters the most is that he did one night at Froedtert Hospital.
Throughout Ronnel’s life he took great pride in being his own man and making his own way; characteristics that were passed down from generations. The skills his father taught him as a little boy in the garage to fix cars are the skills, he used to earn a living as a mechanic. The importance of family is the reason Ronnel would show up when no one else would. He’s the one that would get on the highway and would drive hours to pick up a family member. He’s the one who would slip you some money when you needed it. If he had it so did you! His heart was big like that. If there was a scuffle let’s be honest, he’d probably swing first. That’s just who he was because he loved his family and he was raised to protect them-blood, not blood, family is just family.
The motorcycle world was an extension of that family and it was so important to him. Within the motorcycle club he was affectionately known as “Geezy”. He started out being an active member of High Rollers motorcycle club as Sgt. At Arms. Which led to him being Vice President of the Hawks. Currently, he is an active member of the Racine/Kenosha Clique Riders MC where he became the Vice President. “Geezy”/Ronnel will forever be a Clique Rider and Racine/Kenosha Clique Riders MC will forever be his family.
Ronnel Jay Nelson Sr. was escorted from this life to glory on November 2, 2020 he was preceded in death by his wife Cindy Nelson; his father Jimmie Lee Nelson Sr.; his sister Lela Coleman; grandparents; a host of uncles and one aunt. He leaves to cherish his memory, fiancé Mia Washington whom he loved fiercely, and she was devoted to him until he took his last breath; his mother Zodie (Robert) Brown; his children Shayla (Detrick) Donaldson, Synell Nelson, Alexis Nelson, Ronnel (Courtney) Nelson Jr., Jusytce Nelson and Johnny Klyce all of Racine, WI.; siblings Jimmie Lee Nelson Jr., Russell Nelson, Jevoris Nelson all of Racine, WI. He was the loved and adored “Papa” to his ten grandchildren Jeremiah, Jordan, Ja’niylah, Wylie, Damarian, Jah’marion, Ja’Nese, Dominic, Tristen, and Triniti. He also leaves to cherish a host of nieces and nephews; his Godmother Eddie Mae Peete, and his niece Temeshe Brown who has been by his side through every step of this journey until the very end. Additionally Ronnel has an abundance of family members and many friends from near and far too numerous to mention by name.
