Racine- Scott A. Doperalski, 50, beloved father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away at his home on Monday, June 7, 2010 following a courageous 16-month battle with metastatic bladder cancer. Scott was born in Racine on September 9, 1959 to the late Louis and Elizabeth “Bette” (nee: Wortock) Doperalski. His family surprised him with a tropical theme 50th Birthday Party this past September. A 1977 graduate of Washington Park High School, Scott faithfully served our Country with the United States Marine Corps from 1980-83. During his career, he was employed for over 22 years by Textron Turfcare Specialty Products, formerly known as Jacobsen Mfg., from 1979 until the company moved out of Racine in 2001. Scott was currently employed by Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare as a mechanic and Racine Unified School District at Starbuck Middle School as an engineer. Among his interests, Scott was an extreme automobile enthusiast, an accomplished model ship and airplane builder, enjoyed tropical vacations, was meticulous about his lawn, and was an all-around perfectionist in everything he did. Above all, he cherished his beloved daughters and loved being in the surroundings of his entire family. Surviving are his daughters, Alyssa (Sean Strauss) Doperalski and Leah Doperalski; sisters and brothers, Cynthia (John C.) Schmit, Victoria Klockow, Daniel (Laurie) Doperalski, Sandra (Russell) Wahl, Joseph (Kimberly) Doperalski and Christina (Brandon) Diel; brother-in-law, Donald Klockow; nieces and nephews, Heidi (Paul) Mireles, Bridgette (Michael) Reilly, Tally (James) Kruger, Nickolas Schmit, John L. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, at 12:00 noon with Rev. Martin Osuji officiating. Military honors and a luncheon will follow. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:00 – 11:45 am. Interment will take place at 9:00 am on Monday, June 14, 2010 at the S. Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In memory of Scott, memorials to his daughters, Alyssa and Leah, has been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks to Wheaton Franciscan Medical Center & Hospice and Fr. Martin for the compassionate care extended in Scott’s time of need. Also, thank you to all of our family and friends for the overwhelming amount of support and for everything you did during theses past difficult months. Please keep our family in your prayers, especially this weekend as many of us walk in memory of Scott at “Relay for Life”.
