Scott Melvin Hottovy, age 65, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
Scott was born in David City, Nebraska to John and Agnes (nee: Kobza) Hottovy on February 13, 1960. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School and Aquinas High School in David City, and the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He was united in marriage to Renee Patten on February 21, 1987 in Charles City, Iowa. They eventually settled in Racine, where Scott was employed at Twin Disc for 33 years in the engineering department. At a young age, Scott began his love to experiment, especially with electricity. These experiments led to many fuse replacements by his dad. He also spent countless hours working on the engines of his Go Carts and Honda trail bikes. Among his other interests, Scott was actively involved with the building addition at Bartlett Youth Foundation; was a pack leader of Troop 142; welcomed the challenge of the adult Pinewood Derby Car races; and assisted sons, Ben, Ty and Jake with his fine tuning of their winning cars.
Surviving are his wife, Renee; sons, Benjamin (Terran Yakes), Tyson (Danielle L. Kettledon), Jacob (Alicia Larson) and Joshua; grandchildren, Levi and Lillie; his siblings, Paulette (John) Shank, Carol Glasshoff, John D (Teri), Les, Tom, Steve, and Paul Hottovy; mother-in-law, Donna Patten; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes; and family members, Ron Hottovy, Ron Glasshoff, Wendell and Steve Patten.

I loved working along side Scott in the Twin Disc Rockford R&D lab, in the Racine production plant, and in the marketing department. He was serious about his work and yet fun to be with . The customers appreciated his attention to detail. Rest in peace Scott. I will think of you every now and then with good memories.
