
Kenosha- Shirley Mae (nee: Olsen) Gramkow, 85, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at Hospice Alliance Inc. – Hospice House on Tuesday, December 20, 2011.
Shirley was born in Waukegan, IL on March 23, 1926 to the late John and Edna Olsen. On May 19, 1945 in Waukegan, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Everett H. Gramkow, who preceded her in death on September 24, 2011.
Shirley was a founding member of the Kenosha County Humane Society. She was also active with the auxiliaries of the American Legion and AMVETS. Among her interests, Shirley enjoyed crocheting, crafts, playing cards and poker with family / friends, and was a Bingo fanatic. Above all, she loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family.
Surviving are her daughter, Connie Kammerzelt of Silver Lake; grandchildren, Ron (Bernadette) Kammerzelt, Danielle Andrews and Dennis (Candice) Olsen; brother, John Olsen; sisters-in-law, Corabelle “Corky” Meyers, Mary Stankard and Anna Lane; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Stacey Lea Kammerzelt; sisters, Margie Haight and Joyce Back; brother, Dennis Olsen; Everett’s parents, Theodore and Goldie Gramkow; brother-in-law, Dale (Doris) Gramkow; and sister-in-law, Della (Bob) Randall.
Funeral services will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 7:30 pm with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 6 – 7:30 pm. In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, cremation will follow the services. Private entombment will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
