
Shonda S. Hattix, 37, received her Heavenly Reward, on Friday, July 22, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. She was born in Racine on December 12, 1973 the daughter of Hugh and Gloria Denise (nee: Clay) Hattix.
Shonda was a 1992 graduate of J. I. Case High School. She was a member of Zoe Outreach Ministries. Shonda had been employed by Aurora Health Center.
Surviving are her daughters, Kara and Kedra Pittman, and Kaylee Kirksey; parents, Gloria “Denise” (Terrance) Williams, of Sun Prairie, Hugh "Drippy" (JoAnn) Hattix, of Racine; brothers and sister, Ahmad (Tiffne) Hattix, Jason Hunter, all of Racine, Kendra Hattix, of Kalamazoo, MI, and Ahmad Williams, of Milwaukee; grandparents, Idella Hargrove, of Racine, and Charles (Mary) Hattix, of New Albany, MS; her former husband, Darrick Pittman, of Racine. Her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends also survive her. Shonda was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Isaac Hargrove and paternal grandmother, Annette Hattix.
Her Homegoing Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 28th, in Grace Church, 3626 Hwy 31, with, her uncle, Rev. Melvin Hargrove officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and in the church on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.; from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service, visitation will be for the family only. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family to establish an educational trust fund for her daughters.
