
Racine- Stephanie C. “Stevie” (nee: Puchinsky) Mancuso, 85, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. A lifetime resident, Stevie was born in Racine on May 10,1922 to the late John and Emily (nee: Borzowski) Puchinsky. She graduated from Washington Park High School. On September 11, 1948, Stevie was united in marriage with the love of her life, Salvatore “Gus” Mancuso, who preceded her in death on April 8, 2005. During her career, Stevie was employed by Standard Foundry, Service Paper, and retired from Manpower Employment Agency in 1983, where she worked as the bookkeeper for over 20 years. She was a devoted and faithful member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. Among her interests, Stevie enjoyed knitting, cooking, and was a diehard Brewers fan. Years ago, she was a tireless volunteer and chaperone for the Racine Explorer Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps. In recent years, Stevie looked forward to trying her luck on the slots at Potawatomi. Above all, she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who was passionate about her entire family. Stevie loved and cherished being in their surroundings! Surviving are her daughter, Jane (Randy) Stein of Racine; sons, Richard (Julie) Mancuso of Oconomowoc and David (Dona) Mancuso of Racine; grandchildren,Lauren (Mike) Monfeli; Matthew, Dana, Tony, Danny, Michael and Alyssa Mancuso; Anne (Drew) Matson, Jody (Phil Rigby) Stein and Steve Stein; great-granddaughter, Bailey Rigby; brother-in-law, Tony (Mary) Mancuso; sister-in-law, Marguerite Mancuso; and many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to her parents and husband, Stevie was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen (Eugene) Szymczak and Sophie (Ed) Willing; brothers-in-law, Frank, Bill (Maxine), and Jack (Corrine) Mancuso; and sister-in-law, Carmella (Sam) Cicirello. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., at 10:30 am with Rev. Jeffrey M. Thielen officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 pm and in the church on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 am. Memorials have been suggested to the Gus and Stevie Mancuso Student Award Fund or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. A heartfelt note of thanks to the wonderful staffs of All Saints Medical Center-2nd Floor, Lakeshore Manor, and Steven Johnson, MD for the incredible care and support that was so tenderly extended to Mom during her time of need.
