Miller's FlowersRACINE – Susan C. Chlebos, 70, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at Ascension All Saints on Wednesday, September 27, 2017
A lifelong resident of Racine, she was born on January 21, 1947, the daughter of the late George and Claire (nee: Brackevelt) Nielsen. Sue graduated from Washington Park High School and received her Secretarial Science degree from Racine Technical Institute. On June 20, 1970, she married Thomas William Chlebos.
Sue worked for SC Johnson Wax and eventually Horlick High School where she was the white school attendance coordinator. She retired in 2006.
Sue was a past member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church. Her favorite retirement activities were spending time with her grandkids that she adored, visiting with her granddogs (“the boys”), playing casino slot machines and camping; she treasured her 5 scheduled camping trips a year with the same six couples affectionately known as the “Devils Nutz” ; which never missed a trip in 37 years.
In addition to her husband Tom, she is survived by her sons, Scott (Fiancée, Jennifer) Chlebos of Austin, TX, Michael (Daniela) Chlebos of Racine; her grandchildren, Brennan, Caitlin and Hannah; her sisters-in-law, Linda Nielsen of Racine, Diane (Jack) Ross of Kansasville; her brother-in-law, Dan (Vicki) Chlebos of Michigan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Nielsen.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 for a visitation from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. A service celebrating and honoring her life will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark Doidge officiating. There will be an interment at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the American Cancer Society.
The Chlebos family extends a heartfelt thank you to Drs. Assani, Gullberg, Turner and Dingra; the nurses and staff of the 3rd and 5th floors at Ascension Hospital and a special thank you to Dr. Mullane and Sierra, Jim and Jennifer in the ICU for all the professional and loving attention given to Susan while under their care.
Jim Gruenewald RN ICU says
My deepest condolences Tom. Susan sure sounds like she was an amazing woman and she was a joy to have as my patient, thank you for allowing us to take care of her. I would definitely would have liked to come and give you my sympathy in person, but I am out of town on Tuesday so I wanted to touch base with you and thank you again for the kind words in return.

My deepest sympathy to you, Tom, and family. I worked at Horlick with Sue, I remember all the fun times we had especially at parties. She was the “life of the party”. Her life was cut far too short. May she Rest In Peace without pain. May God Bless Her. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
