Miller's FlowersRACINE – Susan E. Angeline Costabile, 70, passed away at her residence on August 12, 2024.
She was born in Racine on December 28, 1953, the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Betty J. (nee Cole) Costabile. She graduated from William Horlick High School in 1972.
Susan began her working career as a Travel Agent. She enjoyed traveling and had the good fortune to take many wonderful trips. She went to Chili, Peru, Germany, Norway, and Australia, to name a few. One of her most exciting times was in Iceland on a cruise when the volcano Bardarbunga exploded and extended her trip. She always came back with thoughtful gifts for everyone. After several years she was recruited to work at Rasmussen Jeweler’s, where she worked for approximately 22 years. She was a member of the Kiwanis for many of her working years and enjoyed meeting other business associates in the community. She loved her time at Rasmussen’s and considered them part of the family. Prior to her retirement, she was a jewelry appraiser at Goodwill Industries.
Susan was an avid Cub’s fan. As such, she was a Charter Member of the Die Hard Cubs Fan Club. She attended many a Spring Training Games and regular games in her day. Although we didn’t understand her Cub’s loyalty, she was a Packer’s Fan, so we overlooked it. Susan had a fierce love for her family and would do anything for anyone. She was a generous soul who would be the first one to pitch in and help, if needed. She could never do enough. She will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her son, Richard James (April) Hansen; her grandchildren, Delaney and Linus Hansen; her brother, John (Jeanne) Costabile; her sister, Carol (Robert) Thiel; her sister-in-law, Lori Costabile; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
Susan was also preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Costabile and her dear friend, Vickie Stefka.

Our Dear Susan, we are going to miss you, your kindness and humor so much. Our dear cousin, your friendship meant everything to us. You will be in our thoughts everytime we watch the Cubs or check a boxscore! We will always cherish our time together when you visited us in Norway. We will send our March Madness picks to you directly in heaven, and yes, we will give special consideration to your Catholic schools. Susan, we celebrate your life. Please make some spaghetti and walnuts for Ace, when you sit down in heaven. Blessings our love.

I first met Susan at the travel agency, I think it was called Racine Travel at that time and
she had a loyal following. Then she moved to Rasmussen where she would keep track
of all occasions. A brilliant system in her laid back way. Susan was a wonderful
thoughtful friend and she will b missed.

Don Smiley says
Dear Cousin Susan,
I will miss you very much. We had so much in common except for that Chicago Cubs thing. I guess you were influenced by cousin Jimmy’s love of Da Bears. Your sweetness and love of people was so admirable. Say hi to Uncle Joe, Aunt Betty, Ace, Uncle Jim and Aunt Rose. And of course, my Mom and Dad. You will be forever missed in this life. I’ll see you in the next one.
Love you always,
Donnie Smiley, Shelley and Donnie.

Susan and I met while both working at Racine Travel Agency many years ago. She was responsible of introducing me to my husband David She played a little matchmaker and we have now been married for 41 years. Susan and I shared quite a few fun times in our youth, including our trip to London. She was always happy to find an adventure and I was willing to go along.
Go in peace my friend.
