Thomas Dean Schacht, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, after a tough battle with lung cancer.
Tom was born on February 9, 1947 in Somers, Wisconsin, to Norman and Beverly (nee: Straube) Schacht, who preceded him in death. He was a 1966 graduate of Washington Park High School in Racine. Tom was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Diane Dallas, on August 26, 1967. They shared 56 wonderful years together. He worked at Gormac Products straight out of high school, where he retired after 43 years. He also served in the Air Force Reserves from 1967-1973. In his earlier years, Tom enjoyed showing and championing his prized Brittany Spaniels, camping with Diane and his girls, making lifetime memories in Door County at his family’s cottage and traveling all over the United States on his Harley Davidson. After retirement, he enjoyed his many trips to Mexico, countless nights watching the sunset over the Bay in Door County, fishing, skeet shooting, and traveling in his Mustang convertible. An avid Wauwatosa West High School Superfan, Tom could be found at all his grandsons’ many athletic events. In recent years, he enjoyed watching his granddaughter flourish in dance and gymnastics, as well as sharing birthday celebrations with her.
Tom is survived by his wife, Diane; daughters, Lisa (Jason) Schrems and Lori (Jason) Erickson; his grandchildren he adored more than life, Keegan Schrems, Braeden Schrems and Isabella Erickson; his sister, Claudia Richter; relatives, friends too numerous to mention and his faithful dog, Nala. Besides his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his in-laws, Peter and Lorayne Dallas; brothers, Jerry Schacht and David Schacht; nephews, Jeffrey Schacht and Brandon Klapperick; sister-in-law, Donna Dallas; niece, Cory Godwin and great nephew, Jesse Dean Wilson.

Max Brusky says
Many fond memories of Tom from when I was kid at the great Gormac picnics and beyond, and then working with him as a young adult (and especially the times with my brother). To this day, I hear things he said in my head and to try to apply this or that nugget of rugged wisdom that I heard from him first.
Rest in peace, Tom, and best to the Schacht family.
