Service Details
There will be a Celebration of Life Homegoing Service for Tyrone held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 4:00PM. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00PM until the time of service.
Tyrone Brooks, age 72, passed away peacefully at his home with loved ones at his side in Kenosha, Wisconsin on July 19, 2024. Tyrone was born on December 14, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Peggy and Roy Brooks. Tyrone accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age in East Saint Louis. Tyrone attended East Saint Louis Senior High School in East Saint Louis, Illinois. Tyrone, along with his brothers, Ronald and Wendell, owned and operated “Brooks Brothers Construction” for many years. Tyrone also worked as a freelance carpenter and was very skilled in electrical and plumbing. Tyrone was a humble, LOYAL, Protector, and Provider of his family. Tyrone was a man of Valor: patient, honest, and a God-fearing man. Tyrone enjoyed listening to his Gospels and Old School music, fishing, and spending time with family. Above all, his whole world revolved around his beloved Linda of 48 years, their children, and his entire family. He was a member of Progressive Avenue Baptist Church in Racine, Wisconsin for 15 years under Pastor James Campbell.
Surviving are his loving wife, Linda; their children, Tamika Brooks, Myron Brooks, Tyran (Johnny) De La Cruz, Tyrone (T.G.) Brooks Jr., Denise (Shay-Shay) McGee, and Darnisha McGee; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brooks; brother-in-law, Anthony Lucas; grandchildren, Alecsis Taylor, Antwane Taylor, Jr., Devon Taylor, Shayna (Jerell) Griffin, Diamond Thomas, Rico Myart, Kane McGee, Willie K.Tenort, Tatianah (Tots) Brooks, Chanel De La Cruz, and Juan De La Cruz; brothers, Walatha Brooks of Detroit, MI. and Paul Brooks of St. Louis, MO; his sister, Anita Covington of Dallas, TX, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peggy and Roy Brooks; his nephew, Warren Brooks; his grandson, Demonte Taylor; his brothers, Wendell, Ronald, Antone, and Jerry Brooks; his sisters, Rosetta Moore and Sylvia Lucas.
The family would like to send out a BIG Thank You to his granddaughter, Shayna Griffin, who was always there by his side as well as his daughter, Tyran De La Cruz, and special niece, Angela Epps.

We are grateful to the wonderful team of nurses and staff at Compassus Hospice, especially nurses Angie and Jenny, and to the amazing team and staff at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital.

On my last hospital visit with my uncle I asked what are you doing in here ? He said trying to live. Obviously god had other plans . May your soul RIP . Uncle Tyrone you were the last of the Roy & Peggy Brooks clan which makes this hurt to the core. I appreciate your unyielding support for me & my family over the years. You were one of the greats, To my cousins I ask that you take the advice of my uncle and use whatever time you have remaining to live life to the fullest . My sincere condolences to Belinda, & the McGee & the Brooks families . May god continue to keep you.
