Virginia A. Scholzen, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at Columbia-St. Mary’s Milwaukee Campus on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 with family by her side. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave. on Tuesday, August 1st at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass.

Virginia “Ginny” Scholzen, 70, today your family lost their beautiful daughter and loving sister. Her ever loving smile and quick wit will be missed by all who knew Ginny. A loving person who would do anything for anybody at any time without being asked. She was born in Racine on November 22, 1952, the daughter of Richard G. Sr. and Lucille (nee: Willems) Scholzen.
Ginny graduated from WashingtonPark High School, Class of ‘71. She had been employed by InSinkErator for over 47 years, retiring in June of 2020. She was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church and the InSinkErator 10 Year Club. Ginny enjoyed shopping estate sales, not for herself but buying things for others, and gardening.
Surviving her is her special friend Jay Haertel, of Racine, and her furry companion, Pebbles, along with her mother, Lucille E. Scholzen, of Racine; her brothers and sisters, Judy (Aaron) Morse, Dan (Sandy) Scholzen, James (Anne Brown) Scholzen, Patricia (Michael Huck) Kunicki, all of Racine, Joseph (Debbie) Scholzen, of Lake Geneva, Richard G. Scholzen Jr., Paul (Heidi) Scholzen, all of Racine, and George (Lisa) Scholzen, of Burlington; aunts and uncle, numerous nieces, and nephews. Other relatives and friends also survive her. Ginny was preceded in death by her father, Richard G. Scholzen Sr., and her sister and brother-in-law Mary Ann and Randy Holbus. Virginia passed away with family by her side after a courageous short battle with cancer at Columbia- St. Mary’s Hospital-Milwaukee Campus. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and housekeeping staff at Columbia- St. Mary’s Hospital-Milwaukee Campus for the love and compassion shown from them to Ginny and family during her fight.

Ginny will be dearly missed she was always so full of life, and quick to bring a smile to your face. I remember 4th of July picnics by Grandma & Grandpa Scholzen’s where Ginny would always organize activities and crafts “to keep all the kids busy.”. She would buy & bring all the supplies needed. Ginny had a very generous heart!
