
Sturtevant – Yvonne Chambers Jennings, 55, passed away at All Saints hospital on Friday, January 9, 2009. She was born in New Albany, Mississippi on March 16, 1953, the daughter of the late Nathaniel “Buddy” and Henrietta (nee: Alexander) Chambers. She was a Racine resident for most of her life. On July 14, 1979 she was united in marriage to Warren Jennings. Yvonne was proud of her role as a homemaker. She loved to cook, and was a loving wife and mom who was always there for her family. Yvonne enjoyed meeting new people, traveling and weekend trips, and shopping. She had a funny sense of humor that will be missed. She is survived by her loving husband, Warren Jennings; her devoted children, Warren L. Jennings, Dewita Chambers, Steven Jennings, and Erica Davis all of Racine; 5 grandchildren, Kezahrian, Christopher, Corvantae, Charisma, and Joseph; her dear sisters and brothers, Sakinah (Syid) Abdullah, Rajeeyah (Andre) McWhorter both of Racine, Belinda Lambouth, Darlene Chambers both of Milwaukee, Gwen (Robert) Armstrong of New Albany, Mississippi; Dante Chambers of Los Angeles, California, and Hannibal (Dorothy) Chambers of Milwaukee; her special nieces, Tameka Abdullah and Haleemah Abdullah; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Marshallean Connors and Sheila Stewart both of Racine. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Sherman Chambers. Homegoing services will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2009 with Minister James Oates officiating. Committal services will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation and viewing will begin at 11 a.m. Special thanks to all of the staff at All Saints hospital, especially those in 2D and the ICU, for their compassion and caring manner displayed toward Yvonne.
